How to make Extended Lashes last the longest

Tips & tricks - How to make Extended Lashes last the longest. Maintenance of diy-lashes

With the right application and maintenance, our Extended Lashes can last for up to 7 days. Here, I will go through a few tips and tricks that can help your lashes last as long as possible. These tips can also be used if you have lash extensions, as the same things can affect the durability of the lashes for this type of lash.

If you want to read more about the two different types of lashes, you can do it here. Otherwise let's get to our 5 tips on how you maintain your DIY-lashes:

1. Avoid oil-based products

My first tip is that you generally should avoid oil-based products altogether, and if this isn't possible, then avoid oil-based products around your eyes. Oil can dissolve the glue that holds your lashes in place, which unfortunately shortens the durability of your lashes!

It can be your makeup remover, face wash or eye cream, so be aware of whether there is oil in the products you use. And if you experience problems with your lashes not lasting as long as you want, consider whether the products may need to be replaced.

2. Avoid water on your face

And of course, I don't mean that you should completely avoid water when you have your lashes on... But! It's a good idea to be aware of avoiding too much direct and hard water on the lashes, especially when you shower.

It is a good idea to let the water flow through your lashes when you shower, but the water from the shower should not hit your lashes directly! The direct and hard water can reduce the life of your lashes and can result them to go loose from your natural lashes faster.

Another thing I want to point out when we talk about water, is that you should also avoid getting your lashes wet or moist for 12-24 hours after applying your Extended Lash. The lash glue needs time to harden properly for your lashes to last as long as possible and for you to achieve the best result.

That being said, it is important to remember to keep your lashes clean! Therefore, always make sure to cleanse your lashes from makeup and dirt, as dirty lashes reduces the durability.

3. Avoid touching your lashes too much

When you have your lashes on, you should avoid touching or pulling too much on your lashes, for example, by touching your lashes or scratching your eyes vigorously. This will transfers oil from your fingers to the lashes, which we should avoid, and the friction when you scratch your eye can also cause your lashes to go loose - uh-oh!

So even though it is tempting to touch your new long lashes, stop yourself from doing so, to ensure that your lashes last as long as possible. And if you need to scratch your eye, try to use a spoolie or lash brush instead, to avoid oil and have minimal friction.

A little side note is that you should also be careful when applying makeup around the eyes, as you should avoid friction as much as possible.

4. Avoid sleeping with your head on the pillow!

When you sleep, try to avoid that your lashes touch your pillow, which typically happens when you lie on your stomach or on the side.

This is related to the tip I gave before, regarding minimizing friction, as friction causes lashes to go loose faster. In addition, your lashes can also be bent or broken by being squeezed in the pillow, which we want to avoid to continue having beautiful lashes.

If you can't get used to lying on your back when you sleep, you can lie half on your side so that the lashes still do not touch the pillow. Or you can ensure that your face and lashes are positioned above or beyond the pillow, so they are free from touching the pillow.

5. Squeeze the lashes tightly together

If you experience the lashes coming loose, use the applicator in the Extended Lash kit, or your (freshly washed) fingers, to squeeze the lashes together with your natural lashes. By squeezing the lashes together, they will stay in place better and last longer. A good tip is to do this daily to ensure that the lashes do not come loose.

I hope you now have some good and useful advice on how to make your Extended Lash, or Lash Extensions, last longer. You can find more tips and tricks regarding Extended Lash here.
